We’d be sad about summer coming to a close if the fall season in the Lake Chelan Valley wasn’t so magical.

As the leaves change from green to gold to orange and the nights cool off, we can’t help but fall in love with our little valley all over again. There’s nothing quite like the rolling hills of golden vineyards and brisk morning walks by the lake. The days stay warm well through October, making autumn a perfect season to get away and explore!

While we live for long, hot summer days in Lake Chelan, we know that the summer temperatures can often be too hot for some day hikes.

Trails like the Chelan Butte offer stunning views at the top but little to no shade on the way up. The cooler temperatures of September and October make it a perfect time to hit the trails! We suggest planning a golden hour hike to experience the gorgeous fall lighting over the valley. Or do a loop around Riverwalk Park and soak in the changing colors, lake reflections, and quiet downtown.

From wine grapes to apples to pumpkins and more, the Lake Chelan Valley hums with harvest festivities all season long.

Try your hand (or foot) at stomping grapes or go apple picking and press your very own cider. Nothing says fall like a bin of fresh-picked apples and a bouquet of seasonal wildflowers! We recommend a day trip to Chelan Valley Farms where you can harvest apples or pumpkins, traipse through wildflowers, and soak in the incredible views.

Whether you’re a beer, cider, or wine lover (or all three!), you’ll find something wonderful to sip on while you soak in those crisp, autumn days.

A glass of red on a chilly evening while enjoying the view at Fielding Hills? Yes, please! A cool cider from Steelhead Cider on a warm early-autumn afternoon? Sign us up! A post-dinner beer at Lake Chelan Brewery? You’re speaking our language.

Our valley gets an impressive 300 days of sunshine every year, so although the weather may be cooling off, it’s still warm enough to get a few more lake days in!

The parks are quieter and there’s a general sense of stillness and serenity throughout the valley. Pack a picnic, a blanket, and some extra layers and hit the beach for a day of relaxing lakeside. And be sure to stick around for a stunning golden display as the sun sets behind the Cascades. It’s pure magic. But don’t take our word for it – experience it all for yourself.

Come enjoy a beautiful Lake Chelan autumn with us. We promise you’ll fall in love with our valley in a whole new way. We can’t wait to see you!

There’s nothing quite like ending a day in paradise with a delicious meal. There are plenty of restaurants throughout the Chelan Valley. We hope you find what you’re craving after your long day of basking in the Lake Chelan sun. Bon appetit!

So you’re spending the next few days in glorious Lake Chelan and you want to shop locally as much as you can? We can help!

Patronizing local businesses while you’re on vacation helps keep them going year-round and you won’t find better customer service anywhere else! Many of our favorite businesses are just starting to open back up after months of closure. By shopping locally, you’re helping these shops we know and love get back into the swing of things. We thought we’d give you some tips for shopping locally during your stay with us.

Keep it local by stocking up for the week at some of our favorite local markets.

If you’re staying near Manson, you’ll find everything you need at the Manson Red Apple Market just off Manson Highway. Friendly faces and a wide selection await you. Don’t leave without grabbing something from the cafe inside! If you’re staying in Chelan, head downtown to Bear Foods Natural Market. You could spend hours wandering through every aisle and checking every nook in the store. Cap off your trip with a bag of fresh-popped popcorn seasoned your way or a crepe from the attached creperie. We also recommend the Meat Shop for quality meats and Culinary Apple in downtown Chelan to round out your grocery shopping!

Farmer’s Market

Both Chelan and Manson have their own farmer’s markets where you can pick up fresh produce.

In Manson, you’ll find the market at the Manson Grange on Wapato Way on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 8:30 am through the summer months. In Chelan, the Chelan Evening Farmer’s Market begins at 4 pm on Thursdays on the corner of S. Emerson St. and Wapato Avenue. Meet local vendors and browse local goods from fresh fruits and veggies to artisan bread to handmade soaps. Stock up so you can head back to your rental to cook up a fresh meal paired with local wine, good company, and stunning views!

Souvenirs & Vacation Goods

Slowly but surely, our beloved shops are beginning to open up with social distancing measures in place.

Your shopping trip may not look like it has in the past, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a little bit of Lake Chelan back home with you.

If you’re looking for something to commemorate your trip to Lake Chelan, duck into Swim World on Woodin Avenue in downtown Chelan for stickers, mugs, hats, and more, or Shirt Shop Plus for custom Lake Chelan apparel. If you’re in need of a good vacation read, head to Riverwalk Books to peruse the latest bestsellers and new releases. You’ll walk out with a perfect beach read, thanks to the booksellers’ recommendations! If you’re vacationing with kids, they’ll fall in love with the upstairs wonderland. Trust us when we say you’ll have a hard time leaving without half the store.

This one seems like a no-brainer, right?

The Lake Chelan Valley is home to some of the region’s best wines. While you’re here, make sure to take advantage of the delicious wine. Currently, many wineries are open for curbside pick-up, so you can pick up your favorite bottles to bring home with you. If you’re not into wine, pick up a growler and bottle from one of the local breweries, like Stormy Mountain Brewing or Lake Chelan Brewery, or cideries, like Rootwood Cider or Steelhead Cider. To see your full list of options, check out the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce Ale and Cider page.

Stocking up for your vacation or buying souvenirs is easy when you’ve got amazing local businesses like the ones right here in downtown Chelan and Manson. Happy shopping!

Coffee with a View

Wake up and enjoy a leisurely morning of sipping coffee and soaking in lake views.

There’s just something about the smoothness of the undisturbed lake in the morning that will soothe you and set your day off on the right foot. Grab your coffee and sit back. There’s no rush to be anywhere or do anything.

Grab Brunch

Keep the slow morning going by visiting a locally-loved restaurant for breakfast.

Check out Riverwalk Inn for a unique breakfast selection and a wide range of mimosa flavors! Sit out on the patio to catch some rays and watch the passersby. If you’re staying near Manson, we recommend trying Blueberry Hills. The lines are long, but the wait is so worth it. You’ll enjoy a phenomenal breakfast overlooking rolling hills of blueberries – hence the name.

Hit the Lake

Now that you’ve fueled up on coffee and good food, it’s time to hit the water!

Rent a boat or jetski and spend your day tubing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, or just feeling the wind in your hair as you cruise around the lake. Pack some snacks and you’ll have no reason to disembark before your rental is due. If you’re feeling more adventurous, give parasailing a shot. You’ll experience a rare bird’s eye view of the lake and get a kick of adrenaline at the same time.

Treat Yourself

It’s been a long and luxurious day on the lake.

You’ve put it in a lot of hours of rest and relaxation. The best way to end your day is by visiting any one of the amazing restaurants Chelan and Manson have to offer. Make reservations at Tsillan Cellars or Wapato Point Cellars and enjoy delicious food paired with exquisite wines. Or head into downtown Chelan and grab a pizza and beer from Local Myth Pizza! They offer 20 taps of local beers and ciders and delicious topping combinations.

Enjoy Live Music

During the summer months, live music can be found throughout the week.

It’s a perfect way to end a perfect summer’s day in Lake Chelan. Many wineries offer live shows from bands and musicians that are sure to keep you dancing into the night! Check the Lake Chelan Chamber Commerce calendar for an up-to-date schedule.

After a summer day like this one, you’ll love heading back to your rental to unwind and enjoy a good night’s sleep! You deserve it.

We can’t believe it’s already April! The birds are singing, the hills are turning green, and the days are getting longer. We are loving it.

And now that you’re emerging from winter hibernation, it’s the perfect time to start planning your summer vacation to the Lake Chelan Valley. It’s never too early to get a jump on your getaway plans. We hope these tips make your planning a little easier:

Choose your dates

First things first. Break out your calendar and find dates that work for you.

Narrow down your options to a few different dates so you can research pricing and the availability of rentals. Alternatively, check around for possible events or festivals that you’d like to attend in the valley and plan your trip accordingly.

Maybe you want to catch some Bach Fest performances or attend the Cruizin’ Chelan car show. A good place to start looking for such events is the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce or the Manson Chamber of Commerce websites.

If you’re looking to visit during peak times like the 4th of July or Memorial Day Weekend, we recommend booking as far in advance as possible to ensure you get the rental you want!

Find Your Perfect Rental

Now that you’ve got some ideas for the dates you’d like to visit, browse our vacation rentals and find the one that checks all your boxes.

Are you planning a romantic getaway for two? A girls’ weekend away? Getting the whole family together for a reunion? Are you looking for something close to town or do you want somewhere more secluded? Maybe having a hot tub is an absolute must.

Whatever you’re thinking, we’ve got you covered. Check out our rentals page here and filter your search to fit your needs. You can also check out our Current Specials page to see if there are any sweet deals you can take advantage of!

Things to Do

So you have your dates and you’ve reserved your rental. Now how to fill all your glorious time at Lake Chelan?

It’s easy! Sometimes the best vacations are the ones where you have no plans at all. You’re free to sleep in, lay by the lake or the pool, read your book, or do whatever your heart desires. For those of you who crave some structure, though, here are some ideas for how to fill your days at the lake!

Lake Days

It’s not a trip to Lake Chelan if you’re not taking advantage of the refreshing, crystal clear waters. Plan a beach day!

Pack a lunch and some floaties and hit the beach for a day of dipping in and out of the water at your leisure.

Or rent a boat, stand-up paddleboards, or jet skis. Spend a day on the water and try your hand at water-skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing. Your whole crew will have a blast!

And trust us when we say, you’ll all sleep soundly back at your rental.

Explore the Area

The lake is obviously a must. But there are plenty of ways to explore the beautiful valley that surrounds it.

Pack your hiking shoes and hit the trails! There’s something for everyone. If you’re looking for a light stroll, do a lap around the Riverwalk Loop in Chelan. Keep it going by connecting to the Reach 1 trail and see the Chelan Gorge.

If you’re looking for more of a challenge, head up the Elephant’s Head trail on the Chelan Butte. The hike is 4 miles roundtrip and starts with a steep incline. But power through and you’ll be rewarded with views of Lake Chelan and the Columbia River. You can park at the Reach 1 trailhead, then cross the road to head up.

On the north side of the lake, explore Echo Ridge for 25 miles of trails of varying difficulty. Catch glimpses of the valley way below and bask in the glorious sun!

Hit the Town

Whether you’re staying near Chelan or Manson, we recommend you spend a day exploring the town!

Spend your morning browsing the quaint shops that line the downtown streets and pick up a souvenir to take home with you. Grab lunch from one of the fantastic local restaurants and visit a tasting room to get some local flavor in the form of wine, beer, or cider.

If you’re hitting the town in the evening, catch some live music and dance the night away! Find local events here.

We hope this points you in the right direction as you begin to think about planning your summer vacation to Lake Chelan! We hope it’s all you’ve been dreaming of and more. And we can’t wait to be a part of it.

Coronavirus, more specifically COVID-19, is the new buzzword.

And, not just in health-talk circles, but in schools, the workplace, on social media, and yes, in the travel industry. Offering world-class service and putting our guests first has always been something that is core to our business.  And we wanted to pass along as much information as we could regarding this virus, knowing that facts and truths may ease your concerns.

Keep in mind that at the time of this message, the only travel mandates we are seeing from officials pertain to cruise ships and international travel.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the Department of State, have been conscientious in updating the public regarding this global virus outbreak, but nonetheless, fears mount as many folks must travel for business and others want to travel for leisure.

As spring break and summer vacations approach, education seems to be the cornerstone for protecting yourself and your family, keeping in mind that healthy individuals are typically able to rebound from coronavirus, as well as the flu, colds, and other illnesses.

Opportunity to Travel and SAVE

While much of the information widely available discusses the impact the virus has had on international travel and air travel, the industry is seeing a sharp increase in families packing up the vehicle and heading out to destinations that they can drive to.

With limited exposure to large, confined crowds, the ability to prepare your own meals, and access to your own vehicle for activities and sightseeing, many people are adjusting their travel plans to include those favorite destinations that are within driving distance of their home base.

And for those that are considering air travel, we’ve seen many carriers slash fares and provide some BIG savings due to the dip in demand. In addition, we’ve heard that some local companies are offering discounted rates on dining, activities, and such.

Key Points to Ponder

While there are varying opinions on what started this, most professionals agree that precautionary measures are a person’s best defense.

Follow the CDC for daily updates on COVID-19 and take some common-sense approaches to wellness to help stay healthy. Many of these practices are things you should already be doing on a regular basis:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Discontinue the practice of shaking hands and perhaps opt to wave or elbow bump for a greeting.
  • Keep tissues on hand to cover coughs and/or sneezes, discarding following use.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Avoid touching your face, mouth, and nose.
  • Routinely disinfect items touched regularly (countertops, bathroom surfaces, personal cell phone, etc.).

Remember these important facts that have been stressed by the CDC:

  • With regard to COVID-19, reported illnesses vary greatly between mild and severe. Some people have had little to no reported symptoms while others have been severe. Currently, information gathered suggests that MOST COVID-19 illness is mild (only 16% of cases have a serious illness).
  • Older people and those with underlying health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, and diabetes, to name a few, seem to be at a higher risk for serious illness.
  • The immediate risk of being exposed to the virus currently is thought to be low for the majority of folks.

The United States has NOT seen the widespread circulation of COVID-19 in most communities at this time.

With no domestic travel restrictions at this time, plan that vacation and celebrate life in your happy place, putting into practice these CDC-recommended tips for better health and wellness.

Again, this is an evolving situation that shouldn’t stir panic. As you travel, take additional daily medications and over-the-counter meds you might need in case of a travel delay, and rely on CDC updates to stay well and safe.

Maybe it’s time for a relaxing getaway from all of the hustle and bustle!

We hope to see you soon!
